Charitable Organisations - Tax Back Scheme

Who can take part ?

Did you know that all offertory donations you make to our parish are considered to be Charitable donations and as such are eligible for tax refund. If you pay income tax or capital gains tax and if your annual offertory or other donations to the church exceed a total of €250 euro, then you are eligible to take part in this scheme.

What do I do ?

Simply complete form CHY4 (available at the link below or from the Parish office) and return it to the parish office and we will return the form to the Revenue commissioners. The revenue commissioners will return an additional 31% of your donation to our parish [at no cost to you]. In the example of a parishioner who gives €5 per week (€250 per year), the parish would receive an additional payment of €77.50 from Revenue.

What information must I provide on the form ?

Form CHY4 requires you to make a declaration on the value of your donation to the parish for the year you are claiming. You must also indicate your Name, RSI number, your address, contact details and you must sign and date the form. You DO NOT give any other information.

What information is provided by Revenue to the parish ?

On foot of making a claim (using the forms completed by you), the revenue will post an amount directly into the parish bank account. No information is provided on the amount paid for any individual claim form, we simply get a payment for all forms submitted in a specific period. Revenue disclose no information on specific tax payers to the parish.

What donations are eligible?

The offering you make each Sunday is eligible, and any other offering/donation you give directly to the parish - (to be eligible your total must be at least €250 per year - this equates to €5 per week or about €21 euro per calendar month). Christmas and Easter Dues are NOT considered to be charitable donations - instead Dues are the income for priests of the parish (and are taxed as normal income).
